The Mummy MOT
What is a Mummy MOT?The Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal examination for women following both vaginal and caesarean deliveries. It will assess how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and stomach muscles are recovering after birth, and if they’re not, then we can provide you with exercises and treatment to help in your recovery and return to exercise safely. |
Minal Gadhia, our specialist Women’s Health Practitioner is fully trained and licenced to carry out a Mummy MOT®. She has also undertaken extensive training to allow her to undertake other Women's Health examinations, and treatments, for conditions such as stress & urinary incontinence, postnatal recovery, postnatal return to running, abdominal muscle assessment & treatment (diastasis), overactive bladder syndrome and the management of stage 1 vaginal prolapse.

What Does a Mummy MOT Involve?
As with all of our patients at Team Rehab uk, we feel that having time to fully discuss your symptoms, goals and expectations is as important as the physical examination itself, so we dedicate a full 1-hour Assessment for our Mummy MOT's. This includes:
In cases where either the presentation is complex, or the clients goals are more involved, we may not be able to complete all of the above in a single assessment. In these situations Minal will explain this to you and encourage you to choose which are the most important aims from the assessment, so that these objectives can be met. It these scenarios, or where specific patient goals negate it, follow up sessions with Minal may be recommend. These will then provide the time to develop a bespoke rehabilitation programme with your particular goals and lifestyle factors, in mind.
Important
We are very happy for you to bring your baby with you but we would like to point our that our time slots are fixed. If you therefore need to comfort your child, feed, or interact in any way that does not allow Minal to work, this time cannot be added on to the end of your session. In ninety nine percent of situations our clients have taken this as common sense however the odd case has meant we do need to highlight this for your prior information.
- Full postural screen
- Pelvic floor muscle assessment
- Abdominal muscle exam to check for any separation
- Screening for any bladder, bowel or sexual dysfunction
- Education and advice on safe baby-care activities such as lifting your baby or pushing a buggy
- Written report of the findings of your assessment
