After shutting down both our clinics in Late March, 2020, it is not an understatement to say that we are returning to a world that is a different place. Our re-opening on the 16th of June did not represent a return to normal, more an implementation of new services to enable us to continue with healthcare treatment.
As chartered physiotherapists we must follow strict guidance on professional and legal issues from our governing body and this is largely dictating what we are able to offer in the way of physiotherapy at the moment.
All new patients, and/or new conditions, will need to be assessed virtually, via our video sessions, without exception. We are able to collect more information that you think from our video services, as we can still see you and get you to move around etc. The only thing we cannot do it physically exam the area, but in most cases we can still get the results you want. We can still send advice and exercises, build rehab plans and ensure you are progressing as you should.
In those minority of cases, where we already know that you won't respond to non hands on physio, we will put you through a risk assessment to see if we can clinically justify giving you a face to face appointment. This is done on a case by case basis and you will be given very specific instructions on that process, at that time, should the need arise.
Most insurance companies are funding video consultations now but we would still advise you to call them up to inform them first.
We are all hoping for a de-escalation of the rules soon, so that we can see more of you in person, but until such time arises, please do not wait for this movable marker if you are in pain, get in touch and please realise that we can still help you now.
