Michelle's Story

Michelle has been practising physiotherapy for 31 years and prides herself on her professionalism and bedside manner and has amassed a wealth of experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy including hydrotherapy.  Like all of our physiotherapists she is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is recognised by all the major health insurance companies and has an enhanced CRB check.

Michelle graduated from the Queen Elizabeth School of Physiotherapy in Birmingham in 1989. She went on to work at York District Hospital, where she specialised in treating out- patients and musculoskeletal disorders.  Whilst in York, Michelle studied at St Thomas’ hospital and became a diplomat of the Cyriax Organisation in 1992.

In 1993 Michelle set up a private practice in Hertfordshire providing a physiotherapy service for three large GP practices, local consultants and self-referring patients.  The practice was sold as a going concern ten years later, when Michelle moved to Northamptonshire.

Michelle then spent seven years working as a self-employed Physio from the Haddon Physiotherapy Clinic, where she developed excellent working relationships with local GPs, consultants and allied professionals such as podiatrists and pilates instructors.

In September 2013 Michelle started working independently once more, running a busy clinic from Moulton, working closely with local consultants such as Nick Birch and Prof Bill Ribbans along with local GPs and the counties swimming team.  Whilst at Moulton Michelle was able to take advantage of the hydrotherapy pools and is experienced in delivering hydrotherapy rehabilitation.

Whilst Michelle enjoys treating all types of musculoskeletal conditions, specific areas of interest include: acute and chronic neck problems, particularly associated with headaches, acute and chronic low back problems, including sacral disorders and postural correction and running injuries.

Throughout her career Michelle has attended regular post graduate training programmes and courses and continues to do so, in order to expand her knowledge and keep up with current developments in the physiotherapy profession.

Away from work Michelle has a busy home life with three (almost grown-up) sons, a husband and two dogs all vying for her attention (the dogs obviously take precedence !!) She’s a regular runner and walker and despite her advancing years still loves to ski. She is happy to roll up her sleeves and get-stuck-in whether its DIY in the garden or home.  She loves to cook and bake (perhaps as well with all the men in her life!) and if she can get away with it likes nothing better than curling up with a good book.
